Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has reached another milestone in her culinary career after being awarded a third Guinness World Record. The latest recognition confirms that a single large-scale cooking project she completed last year qualified for more records than originally expected.
The announcement came months after the event itself, making the achievement a surprise addition to her growing list of global records.
A Single Attempt, Two Records
The cooking feat took place in September 2025 in Lagos, where Baci partnered with a food brand to prepare an exceptionally large quantity of rice. The original objective was to set a national-style rice record, but a later assessment revealed that the same preparation also met the requirements for the largest rice serving ever recorded.
The final verified weight reached 8,780 kilograms, placing the dish at the top of the global record list for rice-based servings and expanding the significance of the original attempt.
Unexpected Recognition Months Later
Official confirmation of the additional record arrived several months after the event, following a detailed review process. Baci shared that discovering the second recognition long after the initial celebration was both overwhelming and emotional.
She credited her team and collaborators for making the achievement possible, stressing that the scale of the project required extensive planning, coordination, and shared effort.
From Marathon Cooking to Global Records
Baci first gained international attention in 2023 when she set a record for the longest individual cooking marathon. She added a second Guinness title in 2025 through the same rice preparation event before learning it had also secured a third record.
With three Guinness World Records now officially credited to her name, Hilda Baci continues to build a legacy that extends beyond endurance cooking into large-scale culinary innovation, further elevating Nigeria’s presence on the global food stage.
